Our Why

The San Francisco African American Arts and Cultural District program formalized a collaborative partnership between the City and communities with the purpose of bringing resources to stabilize the Bayview community. Businesses and residents in the Bayview community face the risk of displacement or gentrification. The objective is to preserve, strengthen and promote our cultural assets and diverse communities. So that individuals, families, and businesses that serve and employ them, nonprofit organizations, community arts, and educational institutions are able to live, work and prosper within the City.
